The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Jacksonville fans at Nationals Park.

No one was more impactful than Mike Ayres in the 11-2 Jacksonville win over San Bernardino. Ayres, who is tied for 3rd in the SC with a 1.183 OPS, went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Edward Southey got the win, improving to 5-9. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 10 and walking 2. Gabriel Marin was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.

Jacksonville left fielder Gabe Ippolito contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 20th hit of the season and put the Nationals ahead, 2-0.

"Nice win for us," said Ippolito. "Now we'll go after the next one."

With the victory, the Nationals upped their record to 61-53.
