Chaloux Goes Deep Twice in 6-5 Killers Win
|
The Crystal Lake Killers beat the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes, 6-5, at Killer Stadium. Mike Chaloux, in particular, was impressive. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Manny Rodriguez got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Earthquakes to 2 runs on 1 hit over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Mike DeWitt got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Chaloux contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Crystal Lake in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Chaloux took a fastball from Rick Hall and stroked the home run to left. His 21st home run of the season allowed the Killers to leap in front, 4-2.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Chaloux told the Crystal Lake Daily News.
Crystal Lake improves to 39-25 with the win. They lead their division by 7½ games.
