Torres Excels, But Thrashers Win
|
The Haviland Thrashers had to overcome a big game from Corpus Christi designated hitter David Torres to leave Ballpark of Haviland with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-4. Torres was 3-3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Haviland pitcher Bobby Pfau got the win, upping his record to 5-3. Hector Valdez got the loss. Jesse Eves closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Omar Gatica, who is tied for 10th in the SC in RBI with 45, chipped in a 3-run home run for Haviland in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 5 runs batted in.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Gatica.
With the win, Haviland upped its record to 33-20.
