The Riverside Wolverines and Jacksonville Nationals played an exciting game.
The Riverside Wolverines overcame a good performance by Jacksonville left fielder Aaron Anderson to knock off Jacksonville, 4-2, at Wolverines Ballpark. Anderson went 2-2 with a home run. Riverside reliever Jorge Ospina picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Young-kwang Kim was tagged with the loss. Bobby Villasenor picked up the save for Riverside, his 7th of the year.
Tom Hirsch had a big solo home run for the Wolverines in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Riverside leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he got a sinker from Young-kwang Kim, who is tied for 10th in the SC in innings pitched with 61.0, and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 11th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wolverines ahead, 3-1.
"It never gets old," said Hirsch. "Winning, that is."
The Nationals, now 26-27, have lost 4 straight.
