The Haviland Thrashers powered past the Crystal Lake Killers, 9-5, at Killer Stadium. Yoshihito Abe provided some of the pop. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Russ Burleson, the winner, improved to 3-4. He held Crystal Lake to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while racking up 12 strikeouts. Jonathan Bencosme closed it out for Haviland, earning his 6th save.

Abe contributed in the top of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped Haviland get the win.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Abe told the Haviland Daily News.

The third-place Thrashers have won 5 in a row.
