Earthquakes Squeeze By Crystal Lake, 2-1
|
Crystal Lake got a terrific performance from pitcher Jordan Carreon, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes. Ft. Wayne won the Killer Stadium contest, 2-1. Carreon threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Shalom Bruin got credit for the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2.1 innings. Ft. Wayne is now 38-12. Crystal Lake is 26-24.
Ft. Wayne needed the clutch hitting of Jose Valdez to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Earthquakes on top, 2-1. For the game, Valdez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Valdez said.
