Ft. Wayne and Corpus Christi duked it out and the Earthquakes came out victorious.
The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes got a stellar effort from pitcher Adam Hazen, helping Ft. Wayne score a win over the visiting Corpus Christi Texans, 3-0. Hazen, the winner, moves to 4-1. He threw 5.2 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks.
Rich Callanan had a big solo home run for the Earthquakes in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Ft. Wayne leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 17-year old right-handed pitcher Jo Uehara and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Earthquakes on top, 2-0.
"We've got a great group of guys," Callanan said, "and we're having fun right now."
With the victory, the Earthquakes upped their record to 38-8.
