Valdez Excels, But Imperials Win
Ft. Wayne shortstop Jose Valdez had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Valdez was 4-5 with 2 home runs and 2 doubles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4, even as Chuluota beat the Earthquakes, 11-10. The win went to Ikuro Wada in relief, making him now 1-0. Wilfredo Vergara took the loss for Ft. Wayne. The win puts Chuluota at 9-31.

Hisamichi Matsumoto had a key at-bat with two out in the bottom of the fourth for Chuluota. With the bases loaded and the Imperials leading 7-6, he got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Matsumoto.
