The Riverside Wolverines took Juneau pitcher Chris Byrd's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Wolverines Ballpark. The final score had Riverside getting past the Sled Dogs, 3-2. Byrd went 5 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 7. Juneau, with the loss, is still a hardy 19-7.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 19-year old third baseman Steve Taylor had a chance to be the hero. Juneau pitcher Juan Perez had other ideas. But with two outs, Taylor drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Wolverines had themselves a dramatic win.

"We busted our tails," said Juneau manager Jordan Nolasco. "But we came up short."
