Earthquakes Lose, 6-2
|
Haviland turned a good performance from starting pitcher Rafael Cruz into a 6-2 triumph over the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes at Earthquakes Stadium. The winner was Cruz. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Miguel Guzman. Losses have been few and far between for the Earthquakes so far this season. Their record drops to 15-7.
Haviland used the timely hitting of Man-u Kym to capture the win. The catcher socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Thrashers ahead, 5-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Rafael gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Haviland skipper .
