5 Straight Wins for Earthquakes
The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes romped over the Crystal Lake Killers, 11-2, at Earthquakes Stadium. Edgardo Perez led the way. He was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Ft. Wayne. The winner was Alejandro Rivera in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Billy Kaufman took the loss. It was the 10th win in 13 games this year for the defending champion Earthquakes, who are picking up where they left off.

Tied up with the Killers in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Earthquakes got a boost from second baseman Francisco Mendez. With a runner on 3rd, Mendez saw a 1-1 fastball from Billy Kaufman and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Ft. Wayne on top, 3-2.

"I wish every win came this easy," said Mendez.
