Franklin Cubs starter Jason McCoart hurled his team past the Whitby Bats, 6-0. The 5th-place Cubs have won 4 in a row.

The Bats had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Cubs going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old third baseman Curt Lirette came to the plate. Lirette hit a run-scoring triple on a 0-1 fastball from Whitby hurler Raul Cisneros. It was Lirette's 3rd triple of the year.

Franklin manager Kerry McElree called it "a darn good win."
