Mounties 8-3 Winners Over Long Island
Moncton left fielder Kyle Twigg contributed significantly to his team's 8-3 win over the Long Island Torpedoes. Twigg went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Mounties. Alex Almonte, the winning pitcher, improved to 14-7. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 3. Bryan Barlow got the save, his 1st in 2 chances.

Shigemori Shimizu took Long Island hurler Sergio Tapia deep in the bottom of the second. His 2-run home run put the Mounties on top, 2-0. In all, Shimizu had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

Shimizu told the Moncton Chronicle: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."

With the win, Moncton pushed its record to 87-49.
