Marty Matthews pitched well, but the Whitby Bats still lost the game, falling, 3-1, to the Tiverton Colonels at Field of the Colonels. The win belonged to Jesus Banda in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Marty Matthews took the loss for Whitby. Ethan Yarbrough closed it out for his 1st save.

The Colonels got a gift in the bottom of the second inning, when they were leading 1-0. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Danny Lopez reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. It made the score 2-0, Tiverton.

"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Tiverton skipper Dave Maloney.

The win puts the Colonels at 31-36, while the Bats drop to 38-29.
