Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Long Island Torpedoes and Franklin Cubs.

The Long Island Torpedoes faced a tough opponent in Franklin pitcher Derek Sigers, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Centerville Grounds by a final score of 6-5. Sigers went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Diogo Pavia snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 2-1 on the season.

Ray Davis chipped in for Long Island, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning. For the game, the first baseman was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk.

"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Davis. "I just want to win ballgames."
