Close Win Moves Pirates to 17-39
The inspired effort of Lincoln shortstop Cleto Laurentino was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-4, to the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates. Laurentino was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Vittorio Capelli, who is tied for 10th in the NC in saves with 3, earned the save for Saint Pierre and Miquelon. Yes, it was a win for Saint Pierre and Miquelon; but their 17-39 record is still nothing to boast about.

The Pirates beat the Princes in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Efrain Baez produced in the bottom of the seventh. Batting against David Torres, Baez gave his team the lead, 5-4, when he hit a run-scoring single.

Saint Pierre and Miquelon manager Bryan Crockett commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
