Marco Montes, who is tied for 10th in the NC in quality starts with 5, never let the Mounties get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Rams to a win, 2-0. Matt Wilken picked up the save, his 11th. The win gives Borrego Springs a season record of 32-24.

Montes gave Borrego Springs a solid start. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 7.1 innings.

"We have a lot of confidence in Marco," said Borrego Springs manager Michael Wright.
