Torpedoes Beat Tiverton, 6-5
|
Long Island and Tiverton duked it out and the Torpedoes came out victorious.
Long Island beat Tiverton at Centerville Grounds, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to catcher Bennett Danks. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The victory puts Long Island at 20-33.
Danks had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-0 fastball from Kyoshi Fujikawa, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Torpedoes a 6-5 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Danks.
"We ground out the win," said Danks. "That's all that matters."
