Dankenbring Helps Cubs Defeat Rockers, 6-3
|
Franklin and Plymouth duked it out and the Cubs came out victorious.
The Franklin Cubs trumped the Plymouth Rockers, 6-3, at Madison Grounds. Franklin left fielder Paul Dankenbring was terrific. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The save went to Naohiro Goto, number 1 for him.
Dankenbring had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 2-1 splitter from Jordan Santiago, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Cubs a 6-3 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Dankenbring.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Cubs manager Kerry McElree.
Franklin raised its record to 25-25 with the win.
