O'Leary Slugs Archers to 6-1 Win
|
A 5-RBI performance from the 20-year old left fielder Matt O'Leary helped the Abingdon Archers beat the Tiverton Colonels, 6-1. Jim Unknown picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Jim Unknown was tagged with the loss. The victory puts Abingdon at 18-32.
O'Leary had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch splitter from Jim Unknown, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Archers a 3-1 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for O'Leary.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Abingdon manager Roberto Enriquez.
