The St. Catharines Blue Jays wasted no time taking the lead in the World Series, beating the Dollywood Partons at Dolly Parton Ballpark by the score of 4-3. The win gives St. Catharines a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Blue Jays right-hander David Tirado threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball.
Angel Lujan came through with a big-time hit for St. Catharines. The first baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I felt great. Had good rhythm with my mechanics," said Tirado.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dolly Parton Ballpark in Pigeon Forge.
