Thrice as Nice: Joilet On Verge of Sweep after Walk-off Win
|
The Joilet Jesters are now one game away from a sweep of the Lubbock Stampede after a dramatic walk-off win in the 15th inning at Ballpark of Joilet. Jesters right-hander Josh Monroe earned praise in the 3-2 victory for a strong outing in which he threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Joilet holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 15th inning, when Joilet shortstop Tony Avecillas, facing Stuart Hamlin, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Jesters the 3-2 win.
"Exhilarating win," said Monroe.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Joilet in Naperville.
