Ft. Wayne Wins Division Series
Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the Southern Conference Division Series. It turned out quite a bit different.


The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes swept aside the Haviland Thrashers to advance to the League Championship Series, winning the final game by a 4-0 score at Ballpark of Haviland.

The series MVP was shortstop Jose Valdez, who hit .667 with a .700 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 10 RBI and scored 5 runs.

"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."

The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes will play against the Jacksonville Nationals in the next round. Jacksonville won their series against the Crystal Lake Killers 4 games to 0. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
