Ft. Wayne Breaks Through for First Win in World Series; Now Trails 2-1
|
Overcoming a bravura effort from opposing starter John Manship, the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes slipped past the Terra Linda Chargers by the score of 7-4 and got their first win in the 2023 World Series. Manship threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the Earthquakes. The win narrows Ft. Wayne's deficit to 2-1.
Ft. Wayne used the timely hitting of Ivan Hernandez to capture the win. The first baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Earthquakes on top, 6-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Hernandez, "and then get after it again."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Plantersville in San Rafael.
