Torpedoes Pin 6-3 Loss on Whitby

The Whitby Bats could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Marty Matthews into a win. Instead, the Long Island Torpedoes prevailed, 6-3. Matthews threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball. Steven Rudolph locked down his 6th save. The victory makes Long Island 12-24.
With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Sean Day had a game-changing hit. The Torpedoes designated hitter slammed a run-scoring single off Ruben Espinoza, making the score 5-3, Long Island.
Long Island manager Victor Sepulveda praised his team's "businesslike approach."
