Moncton Wins, Shafer has 3 hits
The first-place Moncton Mounties picked up another win.

Riding the 3-hit performance of the 20-year old left fielder Danny Shafer, the Moncton Mounties defeated the Borrego Springs Rams, 9-0. John Gillies got the win, improving to 6-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and no runs, while striking out 7 and walking 0. Alex Hernandez picked up the save for Moncton, his 1st of the year.

Shafer had a big hit for Moncton with one out in the bottom of the eighth. With Moncton leading 5-0, Shafer hit a grand slam home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Mounties up, 9-0.

"It was a solid team effort," said Shafer after the game.

The first-place Mounties have won 7 consecutive games.
