Parra goes 4-for-5, Leads Rams to Win
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Borrego Springs Rams and Tiverton Colonels.
The Borrego Springs Rams beat the Tiverton Colonels, 12-6, at Club Circle Park. The win was due in part to shortstop Jorge Parra, who went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Borrego Springs reliever Efrain Garcia picked up the win to move to 1-0. Juan Martinez suffered the loss.
With Borrego Springs leading 4-1 in the bottom of the first, Parra hit a 2-run single off Tiverton hurler Juan Martinez. It was the 21st hit of the season for Parra and put his team ahead, 6-1.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Parra told the Borrego Springs Today.
The setback makes Tiverton 21-7.
