Boosted by the 2-hit performance of Ricky Rodrguez the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates defeated the Long Island Torpedoes, 6-2. Gu Tian, the winner, improved to 2-2. He held the Torpedoes to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 4. No one expected much of this team, but the hot start by Saint Pierre and Miquelon might have some re-evaluating their pre-season predictions. This latest win lifts their record to 18-10.
Sean Gery, who is tied for 6th in the NC in home runs with 10, took Long Island hurler Alex Almanza deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run home run put the Pirates on top, 4-2. In all, Gery had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Saint Pierre and Miquelon manager Bryan Crockett commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
