Cubs Double Up Archers, 4-2

The Franklin Cubs got a marvelous performance from pitcher Mike Bruce. The right-hander kept the Abingdon offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-2 Franklin victory at Reagor Dykes Stadium. The winner was Bruce. He threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Jim Unknown. Earning his 1st save for Franklin was Jimmy Lyles.
Franklin used the hitting of Paul Dankenbring to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cubs on top, 2-1. For the game, Dankenbring had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Abingdon manager Roberto Enriquez. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
Now 5-13, the Archers have gotten off to a poor start.
