Bats Pull Out Late-Game Win, 5-4
|
The Whitby Bats got a rain-soaked win over the Long Island Torpedoes.
Whitby beat Long Island at Centerville Grounds, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman Chris Reese. He went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Angel Alvarez notched his 1st save of the season.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Jarrod LaCasse was at the plate when Whitby scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Bats to go in front, 5-4.
"This team keeps finding a way to win," said Whitby manager David Sawyers.
Now 13-2, the 2024 Bats have been sensational so far.
