The Whitby Bats took on the Franklin Cubs at Franklin Park.

The Whitby Bats knocked off the Franklin Cubs, 8-0, in Northern Conference action at Franklin Park. Whitby pitcher and Bloomingdale, Florida, native Chris Huyard had an outstanding performance. The winning pitcher was Huyard, now 1-0. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Taro Matsumoto closed it out for his 1st save.

Whitby used a clutch at-bat from Garrett Buckner to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Bats ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Chris's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Whitby manager David Sawyers.

Franklin falls to 1-4.
