Sunchasers Beat Earthquakes, 7-4
|
The Sunrise Manor Sunchasers beat the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes, 7-4, at Field of the Sunchasers. The win was due in part to center fielder Eric Schultz, who went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. The winning pitcher was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Leo Najera. He tossed 91 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits. The Sunchasers, at 74-66, sit in 4th place in the Southern Conference East Division.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Oscar Lopez didn't flinch. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and Ft. Wayne trailing 6-4, Lopez retired Bobby Barnes to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Lopez, with a wink.
