Edgar Ramos did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Riverside Wolverines from being beaten, 5-2, to the Crystal Lake Killers at Wolverines Ballpark. Ramos hit 2 home runs. Mike DeWitt, who is tied for 5th in the SC in saves with 10, was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Jose Torres. Ricardo Sanchez nailed down his 6th save.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jeremy Woods? The slick-fielding second baseman Woods stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Crystal Lake up, 5-2. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Woods said.

The win gives Crystal Lake a season record of 74-64.
